Frequent disconnects
There are many reasons why you would experience frequent disconnects.
Here is what initially I would like you to check.
1. If you are using Outlook Express for mail, verifiy that the check
box on the Send and Recieve dialogue window is not checked to
disconnect after checking mail.
2. Turn your computer and modem completely off for one minute and see
if it improves.
3. Make sure your modem/computer is connected directly to the wall,
not passing through and devices or line splitters.
4. Try unplugging the other dvices that are linked into that phone
line in other places inthe house to see if there is a difference.
Periodically other devices like cordless phones and answering
machines cause phone line noise even when not in use.
5. Look for updated modem drivers for your modem. You may call
support if you would like assistance in determining the version of
modem driver you have.

The size of the email box is limited to 15Mb or whatever
space is unused after uploading your website. To determine your home page usage you should get a good email client that will allow you to display the memory attributes used by each file. Programs such as cute and ws_ftp will do this. You can also get info on your home account using telnet. Log on to your shell account and type "du". Then hit enter. It will give you a list of your different services and how much space you are using in each. The number at the bottom is the total. This is in kilobytes, there are 1024 to a megabyte. |
